Community, Tai Chi & Transformational Leadership in Action!
Our Updates
Tai Chi and TBI – what's the link?
This month, Pippi had the opportunity to attend a Tai Chi session run by Headway in her local town, alongside a group of individuals living with a range of traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
Having little prior knowledge of Tai Chi, Pippi found the session unexpectedly impactful — not just as a rehabilitation tool, but as a community space, fitting perfectly with this month’s theme. The session centred on breathing, listening, and slow, deliberate movements that challenged the brain to stay focused and connected with the body. It was a powerful reminder of how easy it is to take everyday movement for granted and shows that by becoming aware of which movements and brain-body connections are happening can actually support athletic performance.
Pippi left the session feeling calm, grounded, and inspired by the incredible work Headway is doing to support recovery and connection for those affected by brain injuries.

Thank you to the BVCA for hosting such a lovely evening at Bristol's iconic Harbour Hotel and congratulations to the winners of BVA Vision 2025.

Monthly Insight
Transformational Leadership in Action
In April’s Spotlight Insight, we explored the idea of transformational leadership—how empowering others and fostering connection can create a strong sense of psychological safety within teams. We asked: How can we achieve this kind of leadership and create space for vulnerability, honesty, safety, and support?
Well, one inspiring answer comes from our very own Brand Ambassador, Ella Lovibond.
As the Sport and Student Development Officer at the University of Bristol Students’ Union, Ella has put transformational leadership into practice by launching an Injury Support Group. The group meets every Friday morning, starting with a social hour to catch up and reflect on the week’s recovery journey, followed by mental and physical skills workshops led by Conor. These sessions have included breathing techniques, guided rehab, and more.
